This is THE Grasshopper pattern in fly fishing, ok ok... so its not the only one. There are some great classics out there but you fish in a place that fish see a few more flies than most small fly shops - this is the one! It seems to fool the big picky trout when no other pattern will. It looks very real and when you see it on the water you will swear it is a live one! We use this on the Yakima River during the daytime when the fish are laying low for the most part. It takes a VERY natural bug to get them up that time of day and this one seems to do the trick.
