Dry flis are the reason so many of us are deeply addited to the sport.  Many anglers will ONLY dry fly fish!  Seeing a trout rise to your fly stops the universe around you, if only momentarily  it is still an amazing thing when it happens!  Casting a dry fly requires finesse, touch, and a smooth stroke when done correctly the line and fly seem to defy the laws of both gravity and physics.  It is an art. Dry Fly patterns need to be effective flies that float well, fish well, and are relatively visible to the angler.  As guides we practice what we preach and try to select flies for our shop and website that posess all of these characteristics.  The hackle, hair, yarn, and other materials must be the highest quality with stiff memory and a glossy sheen.  Our dry flies are excellent and you can take comfort in knowing that if we sell it... we fish it!

The Chernobyl Ant just plain rocks!  They float great, are easy to see, and trout love 'em.  This is a general assortment of "supersize" Chernobyls that will fish well in big rivers.  Big trout can't resist the 'drumsticks' on these big boys.  They are good quality flies with tight foam, lively legs, and a good look.  These will get be a nice contribution to your big dry fly box and will certainly help up your game this summer.  Big Trout beware! The original Madam X, one of the best big dry flies of all time. It makes a great Hopper, Salmon Fly, Golden Stone, October Caddis, Summer Stone, and many more tasty trout treats.  It has a balanced look and fishes from any viewing angle so if it sinks, or floats on its side it still fishes great.  Unlike a parachute which looks a bit funny if the post is visible to the trout.  These attributes make this fly still reign as king for many experienced guides across the west.  The elk hair is a buoyant relatively stiff material which keeps this fly floating great and the color is light enough for the angler to track it in low light when the big boys are on the take!  This selection is a general assortment of sizes. The name of this fly alone causes hunger!  This is a great fly and can be found in every guide's fly box across the west.  It is a leggy creature that entices trout with its big ol' drumsticks hanging off of each side.  It makes an awesome Hopper or Stonefly.  This assortment will give you a well rounded selection of sizes.  They fish will in rivers and lakes.  Try them in the late summer during the early morning hours in your favorite stillwater.  Thanks to its PERFECT Hopper profile it fishes great in lakes when fish tend to turn their cheek at other hoppers.

The CDC Caddis is our FAVORITE Caddis Emerger at Red's next to the X-Caddis.  The CDC floats great and is one of the fishiest materials for an emerger pattern that there is.  Maybe it is the natural sheen that reflects off of the oil on CDC or maybe it traps bubbles.  Either way, trout single this fly out among all others when feeding on Caddis emergers.  The only reason we have these on sale is because we switched tiers and have new product coming in.  Our loss your gain!  Size range is 14-16, perfect for most western rivers and streams.

Make sure to buy a dozen Elk Hair Caddis to run as a front fly with this pattern.  A 2 fly rig works great so that you can see the front fly, and fish the CDC on the back and track it's drift.
The hopper is king among all summer big dry flies.  It can be found everywhere along rivers, creeks, lakes, ponds, etc.  This is a fantastic assortment of Hopper patterns that will fill in gaps for the guy that thinks he has it all, or it will get the beginner going on starting a great fly box full of good stuff.  The Parachute hoppers fish great in slow water and lakes, the bushy Joe's rules in fast riffle water where the big hackle can stand up and say "eat me"!  Try these flies this summer and you won't be disapointed. The Comparadun or Sparkle Dun,  is one of the most respected and best fishing mayfly emergers in history.  The deer hair wing is easy to see, floats great, and fish love it.  The trailing shuck is made up of flashy yarn that mimics the nymphical shuck being shed as the adult makes it way through the surface film.   In this stage the insect is rendered nearly helpless and is of little flight risk as the trout approaches the fly.  Therefore, trout tend to eat Sparkle Duns very willingly during a Mayfly hatch even if they have had some pressure.

Size range - 16-20, this is an assortment of sizes.
The Humpy is one of the best "attractor" flies of all time.  It is often overlooked by anglers because they want the latest and greatest emeger patterns, but the advantage to the Humpy is you can cover a large portion of water quickly because of it's husky profile and buoyant charateristics.  Fish take it as a Mayfly, Caddis, or Terrestrial.  It shines when there is a variety of hatches taking place and you need a fly that can cover several different insect patterns.  It's stiff hackle and healthy wing profile emulates a great deal of motion and draws vicious strikes.  It is considered a go-to fly. The Salmon Fly is one of the most celebrated hatches across the west.  Don't be unprepared for this hatch without a good variety of different patterns to fool pressured trout.  Often they will take willingly early in the hatch but learn quickly as they eat an angler's bug or too.  This pack will give you some options to show the trout and a lot of these patterns can double as big Golden Stones if the opportunity arises.  These are great flies and if you find yourself on one of the west's famous Salmon Fly hatches on the Deschutes, Rock Creek, Madison, or Big Hole these patterns will serve you well and help bring in some big fish and make some memories.

A great Caddis pattern for all situations but it excels in low light with a parachute post that is a bright pink to help the angler keep track of this fly.  The parachute hackle keeps this Caddis pattern floating level on the water and makes the fly look as though it is stuggling on the water's surface.  The realistic tent style flat wing is very realistic and will fool even the pickiest trout in clear water.  Use this fly when a regular old Elk Hair Caddis won't do the trick.  Especially late in the hatch when lots of spent Caddis are hitting the water or laying eggs.

This is the number one Caddis Emerger pattern on the planet.  The trailing Antron or Xelon shuck imitates a Caddis fly shedding it's nymphical skin and is in the process of emerging in the surface film.  The big trout recognize this vulnerability and know that it won't be a flight risk if they decide to attack. The X-Caddis floats fairly well and the natural colored wing will fool even the pickiest of trout.  In low-light conditions try fishing an X-Caddis behind an EHC and you will have a deadly combonation!  You can also use the X-Caddis for comparable size Mayflies with good success too.

Wow!  This bug fishes.  The combination of elk hair, foam, and rubber legs is deadly.  This fly floats well, rolls upright everytime, and hooks fish like schooner.  We love this fly because it has great fishability all year long.  We have used it for Skwalas, Summer Stones, Hoppers, Ants, Beetles, and who knows what else - the trout love it!  Pack plenty of these and fish them up under the brush where tasty terrestrials are likely to fall in the water.  The flashy wing underneath the elk-hair wing on this fly also gets lots of attention and will reflect sun-rays down through the water on clear days beckoning the trout towards the surface to eat this fly.
