G Loomis NRX Trout Fly Rods - The Best Fast Action G Loomis Fly Rod
If you are looking for the very best trout fly rod... this is arguably it. We were very excited when this rod was introduced. It was really a step in the right direction. Rather than fly rod manufacturers telling us how great the new models are.... they showed us! The NRX is markedly lighter, more accurate, and it generates incredible line speed. The Sage ONE is a worthy rival but more than a few anglers contend that the NRX has the lead in the performance category! Decide for yourself, cast one at Red's Fly Shop next time you come our way.A Red's customer and guided adventure guest releasing a nice rainbow and enjoying the high performance of his G Loomis NRX fly rod! Our review of the NRX is a very precise, lightweight trout rod designed for casting small dries at high speed and weighted nymphs on larger rivers where long casts are a factor but accuracy is the key. What makes the G Loomis NRX different? The NRX construction method is completely unique to rod manufacturing. By utilizing a stiffer, lighter and higher density carbon married with Nano Silica resin systems, G Loomis can provide a material that provides all kinds of positive benefits to anglers. The rods are lighter, yet more durable, extremely sensitive, and yet stiffer. This is designed to give you an on the water sensitivity through the rod blank that anglers have never felt before – either in a G.Loomis rod or any other. Fly Reels for the G Loomis NRX Lamson Litespeed Most commonly, consumers buy fly reels that are approximately half again the cost of the the rod. So for instance, a fly rod that is $500 typically matches well with a reel that costs somewhere around $250 give or take. On the G Loomis NRX, we most commonly pair it up with 3 different reels. Buyer's Guide - The G Loomis NRX, Sage ONE, Streamdance GLX, Sage Z-Axis, and Winston Biiix: There are some other rods in this category of high performance. Each has its own set of pros and cons but all are fantastic fly rods and you will be pleased with any of them. Other considerations would naturally be the Sage ONE , it has a very similar action. At Red's, we sell a few more of the Sage ONE fly rods online, but anglers that get an opportunity to cast the NRX and the Sage ONE together often decide on the NRX. They are very closely matched! The G Loomis Streamdance GLX is another premium fly rod in this class and a favorite among several of our guides. It has a smoother slightly softer action and might be the right rod if you like a high performance rod with a little give to it or you have any tendonitis. The RL Winston BiiiX is also a rival. Most consider the BiiiX to have a smoother softer action. All have similar lifetime warranties, Sage and Loomis typically have faster repair times if a breakage were to occur. Why the NRX versus other rods? This rod is for advanced casters, or casters that plan to be someday. It is designed to generate a lot of line speed and drive casts a long ways, accurately, and often into some wind. And it does. It is a fast action rod but still does have a great feel. In a lot of ways the G Loomis NRX just "has it", you know what I talking about. That energy that you can feel when you pick up a fly rod. It is so light, so crisp, and you can feel every vibration of the fly, line, and fish through the blank. We do a lot of casting lessons and competitive casting at our fly fishing campus at Canyon River Ranch and it is funny to listen to people's reaction when they pick up the NRX, oooooohhh! It just has that feel. Advanced Fly Casting We have a couple of videos that might be useful if you are buying this rod. Since it is a very high performance fly rod you will probably want to polish your casting stroke as well to take full advantage of its craftsmanship and energy.Double Haul Fly Fly Casting Advanced Reach Casting Techniques One and a Half Cast Technique Dry Fly Fishing Tips for Caddis G Loomis Fly Rod Warranty Loomis has a great warranty. They exercise their warranty on a case-by-case basis and are VERY fast at getting your rod back to you.Rod Cases and Rod Tube The NRX comes with a very nice rod tube.
