Rio Powerflex Running and Shooting Line - Our Best Selling Running Line for Spey
A great running line that shoots great and is easy to handle. This is our best running line for spey. There are advantages and disadvantages of most materials but this line seems to be the easiest to handle and the most popular with our customers. Mono casts further but is slightly more difficult to handle, especially with gloves on.
Size of running line? We primarily sell .030 as that is what more than 9 out of 10 anglers prefer. It shoots great and is easy to handle.
Shooting Heads and Running Line Systems
Shooting heads attach loop to loop to the running line. Monofilament is the choice for the majority of tournament distance
casters like World Champion legendary distance caster, Steve Rajeff.
The monofilament shooting lines like Rio Slick Shooter are hollow so
that they float and shoot with less friction in your rod guides. Monofilament
does have one problem- memory after it has been wound on a reel. It is also slightly more difficult to grab a hold of.
This is why RIO's
Powerflex Core Shooting line is the most popular running line at Red's Fly Shop. It is exceptionally smooth, slick and tangle free with
a large seamless loop for attaching shooting heads. This running
line/shooting head interchangeability allows an angler to instantly
adapt to changing fishing conditions without carrying extra reel
spools. RIO's Powerflex Core Shooting line size .030 |
