The signature big Mayfly hatch across the west, especially the Yakima, is the March Brown. While the name implies that they hatch in March, and their phylum implies they hatch in May... it is most common for this hatch to start at the very tail end of March and is most prevalent in early April.
This pack includes 6 great dry flies with a variety of flashy parachute post flies that get the trout's attention and makes them easy to see in the ripples or glare. It also has a couple of traditional Thorax tied Duns that fish great from every angle. The emerging nymphs are a Soft Hackle Pheasant Tail in sizes 12-14 that are perfect for deep nymphing, dry dropper, or a floating nymph during the hatch. This kit will prepare you for the March Brown hatch when every big fish in the river is on the prowl for one of these big Mayflies. |
